I just purchased me some new minis from the Local Hobby Shop. They are as follows from Reaper: 50157 Townsfolk Ladies of the Night (3), 50147 General Drake, 50037 Harvey, Psycho-Killer, 50112 Phat Clark, Gang Boss and 50182 Ninja. I purchased Phat Clark and Harvey for use as gangers and Gen. Drake, while being about a 35mm figure, will be used as a Rouge Military General during the early days of the outbreak, and a Dictator/all around not nice guy (ala the Governor from I, Zombie) in the later campaigns (like my Mackinac Island Campaign). The Ladies of the Night (professional escorts, aka prostitutes) will be used in the initial days of the outbreak as panics civilians and then in the later set campaigns they will be used as the escorts they are supposed to be. As for the Ninja every good zombie game needs at least one person who thinks they are a ninja and I now have mine.
I also picked up a Hasselfree Miniatures boxed set that Mantic Entertainment puts out through a license with Hasslefree. The boxed set is Adventurers "Femme Fatales," it contains Dionne, which some of you may recognize as the figure Oliver (Whiteface) used as Mrs. Whiteface, Sadie (a Not-Buffy figure), Kitty and Witch Hazel. I will be using Sadie, Dionne and Kitty as regular survivors and Witch Hazel as Psy in the later set campaigns.
Right now I currently have the figures all assembled (for the ones that needed assembly), primed and based (after I finish painting the figures I will be painting the top of the bases Grey). Unfortunately I have to work all weekend so they probably wont go much beyond the primed stage for at least a couple of days.
Nicely! Looking toward seeing them painted mate!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have Witch Hazel finished (other then the base, which I will be painting the top with Reaper Pro Paints Neutral Grey, a treatment i give to all but a few of my miniatures), alsong with one of the Ladies of the Nights, Dionne, and the Ninja (Ninja is wearing a dark blue suit, color is actually Reaper Pro Paints now discontinued Breonne Navy).
ReplyDeleteI have Kitty approx 90% finished while all the others have only received the initial flesh tone treatment. I typically paint the flesh tones first then work out from there.
Out of all the figures Sadie is the smallest only coming to approx the chins of Dionne and Kitty (Kitty would be even taller is she wasn't standing with her legs spread, though the same also goes for Sadie). Keven White of Hasslefree is a great sculpter. Hopefully the next time I have the money and get over to the Local Hobby Shop they will still have the other two Hasslefree sets they had when I got the Femme Fatales set. Well off to try and get a little more painting done before I have to get ready for work in approx. and hour.
I'm looking forward to seeing your painted minis, Doug. Kevin White is a master sculptor, of that there is no doubt. I should put in an order with Hasslefree soon as they keep on producing so many must-have figures.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, my father is back home now and fortunately he didn't need surgery. The aneurysm he had was apparently non-life-threatening as the blood had congealed in it. So there is no danger of it growing and bursting. We are all so relieved. My dad asked me to thank you personally for your messages of support and sympathy. It was greatly appreciated by both of us.
I have to agree with you Bryan. I have seen some of Kevin's other works that he did for other companies, and they are also great. I had been putting off ordering me some Hasslefree figures for a while due a couple factos such as they arent as redily available here in the US from retailers, and the fact that while I had great service from eM4 I am still hesitant about ordering from the UK due to possible postage fees. Now that Mantic has the license to produce and distribute some of the Hasslefree Adventurers I can get them from my Local Hobby Shop, though I should get some more specialized figures such as Law Enforcement, Hazmat (Hasslefree or Recreational Conflit or both even) and Military before other survivors, and of course more Zombies.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that your dad is doing better and didn't require surgery. Even though it appears he is on the mend, I will keep him and the rest of your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Exciting stuff Doug. Can't wait to see the finished minis. Great news about Bryan and family too.
