US Government takes Zombie Outbreaks Serious

Just noticed a post over on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

http://blogs.cdc.gov/publichealthmatters/2011/05/preparedness-101-zombie-apocalypse/ (Warning may take a while to load)

This is also linked from the main CDC website down on the right side of the page under News & Events.

Now I am wondering if the other US Government Agencies such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be following suit and posting about what they plan on doing in case of a major Zombie Outbreak.

  1. Nice Doug

I posted this in my Zombie Shop blog.

I wouldn't be surprised if the other agencies did follow suit. It is great way to get peoples attention at the moment.

  2. Doug, I bet you feel so safe and secure, knowing that the CDC have your best interests at heart! Bless 'em, eh?

  3. Bryan- Not really, I put more stock in the Zombie Squad gang over at www.zombiehunters.org

They are a great group (which I am a member of). I have been one of the organizers of a couple of the local group shoots for the Mid-Michigan members. I don't post over on the ZS forums much these days, but I do try and check on them at least a couple times a week.

Zombie Squad the worlds premiere non-stationary cadaver suppression task force. Zombie Squad, We Make Dead things Deader.

  4. That sounds so cool, Doug. "Zombie Squad: We Make Dead Things Deader" - what a great tag-line!

  5. Bryan I am actually planning on getting some Swat/Trooper minis (possibly Recreation Conflicts SPRU minis) to paint up for my games as Zombie Squad members. They are going to be some of the only minis that I will actually assign names to (paint the names on the bases of the figures). I will be assigning them the names of some of the actual ZS members (real name if known followed by forum handle). I know I will be including some of the local (Michigan) members such as Trebor, GIJarhead and TheLastRifleMan (all great guys) that I have the the pleasure of knowing personally, and guys I would willingly fight along side of in a Zombie Apocalypse. The other figures will be assigned the names of other forum members that I know through the forums (including one or two members from their Board of Directors).

  6. What a great idea! Do you friends know that they are being immortalised in lead? If so, how do they feel about it? If it was me, I'd be overjoyed.

  8. Irqan- I am assuming by Photo Models you referring to tips on photographing the miniatures. For my photography most of what I have learned is from the photography school I am enrolled with, though right now my pics are all quick snapshots taken mostly with my phone. The key thing you want to remember when photographing your miniatures (cardstock models, plastic models, etc...) is to have your lighting as even as possible, ie don't just use one desk lamp off to the one side, if possible have one on each side in front of the figure(s) so that they are evenly lit from both the left and the right, and if possible also from the top. I do have a photography station set up for taking photos of still life objects such as miniatures, jewelry, fruit, etc..., though unfortunately right now it is in storage so I have been using my camera or cell phone with a couple desk lamps and/or flash units to grab quick shots of the miniatures.

A great place to that has a tutorial on photographing miniatures can be found here http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=6052.0 that is basically similar in most respects to my set up that I would be using if it wasn't in storage right now there are only a few differences which I wont bother listing since they are due to personal preferences towards certain brands of equipment (ie Canon Cameras instead of Nikon)

  9. Bryan- Just noticed your reply. Haven't mentioned it to them yet, though will be posting it over on the ZS forums once I finally get around to finishing (as in actually purchasing and painting) the miniatures to represent them. I do know I will need at least two of the Copplestone casting "Vampifan" figures, one to paint up as a representation of you in my games and one to represent one of the ZS members I know (though may paint up a third as the same ZS member to give to him), too bad Mark didnt sell them individually.
