New Survivors coming

Well I bought my first new figures in a while today. They are the WizKids Hunger Games figures. I bought a total of 8 single figure boosters for some civilians that aren't armed to the hilt with firearms. The armed figures I have are either equipped with a Bow (1 figure) or knives, the rest are unarmed (at least visibly unarmed), which will make them perfect for random townsfolk in my ATZ games be it early days of the outbreak or the proposed Mackinac Island Campaign (set at least 2 years after the initial outbreak).

Right now all but two of them are still on the little tower/pillar base. I do plan on getting pics of what I have when I get a chance, though unfortunately I don't know exactly when that will be, hopefully Tuesday, though they wont be mounted on any bases, I am running short on my 25mm round slotted bases and haven't had a chance to pick up more.

  4. I didn't know that Wizkids were making Hunger Games figures (or anyone else, come to think of it). Where did you get yours from, Doug?

  6. I found mine at one of the two K-Mart stores (a discount Department store chain here in the US that is part of the Sears Holing Company, along with the Sears Department Stores)in which we have a Portrait Studio in (I work for Olan Mills Portrait Studios).

Since I know most of you are also members of the Board of the Living Dead I did put a link to the Troll and Toad site (an online gaming retailer that also has HeroClix figures, Magic Cards, etc...) that has all the figures picture, so I am not going to post a link here.

The pillar bases are the "portals" or what ever they were called in the book and movie that all the tributes stand on when they are raised to the "playing" field while they wait for the Hunger Games to begin.

I probably wont get pics this week. Ended up getting informed today that I am scheduled to work Tuesday, normally I have Mondays and Tuesdays off since our studios (at least in this area) are closed those days, though this week we are open on Monday since its the 1st Monday of the month, and both the photographers and the acquisition sales (what I am part of) staff are required to work it.

As for the figures I did get I only recognized a few, one was Rue the District 11 female tribute that Katniss teams up will before her death, Glimmer the District 1 tribute Katniss kills when she drops a Tracker Jacker (mutated wasps)nest an a group of Careers (tributes who train from an early age to participate it the Hunger Games), Clove the District 2 Female Tribute, and Foxface (this is what Katniss calls her, they never give her true name) the District 5 Female tribute. The rest of the figures I got are all of unnamed tributes.

Irqan- WizKids is the company that makes the popular Heroclix figures that has spawned a number of "expansions" ranging from Horrorclix to Haloclix to Startrek Clix, all of which are based of thier first game Mage Knight (the original Clix game). Wizkids is also the company that produced the popular game Pirates of the Spanish main (and all of its expansions) game, in which you get a number of plastic cards that you then pop out the parts of the ships to build them (some ships are one card others are 3, all cards for a ship all have the same card number on them).

  7. Sounds like a nice mix of figures, civilians are always hard to come by

  8. You can say that again Adam, though companies like Reaper so have some available. Main reason I bought the Hunger Games figures was so I could have some civilian figures that as I said weren't armed to the hilt with waponry (like most "civilian" figures available). The Hunger Games figures that are armed as I said are only armed with basic weapons such as knives, bows, and spears, all easily found in any post apocalypse setting, especially since a spear can be made from a stick with the point sharpened, and you can easily make a bow if need be out of a thicker supple branch and a shoe/boot lace, with arrows being fairly straight pencil diameter branches, as for the knives every house should have at least a couple even if they are found in the kitchen.

I am still planning on trying to get pics of the ones I have. I may repaint them, then again I may not, if I don't then at the minimum I will probably just touch them up.
